Information and Communications Technology (ICT) covers the spectrum of voice, data, electronic safety & security, audio & video, and building automation technologies and is now essentially the nervous system of all buildings. Without this critical infrastructure component these systems and many others would simply not function or function with persistent problems. The careful design and installation of this infrastructure is critical to all business activities. Poorly designed and installed infrastructure will simply perform badly or not at all. These problems may not be evident on day one, but over time as the demands on your systems increase, issues will occur. ICT infrastructure should be designed with at least a 10 year life cycle in mind, ensuring the investment made now, delivers into the future, even at a time of exponential growth in the technology sector.
At ESC Engineering our ICT design team have a wealth of knowledge and experience in this field. Our principal Peter Byrne RCDD not only holds what is considered the bench mark in ICT design credentials but has spent many years installing and testing these systems for clients such as Vodafone, Guinness, Coca-Cola, Intel, Symantec, Hewlett Packard, Xerox and many more.
“Those who achieve the RCDD designation have demonstrated their knowledge in the creation, planning, integration, execution and/or detailed-oriented project management of telecommunications and data communications technology.”
Following on from this practical hands-on experience he worked as ICT Infrastructure Development Manager for the DAA (Dublin Airport Authority) with responsibility for over 340 server rooms and 6 datacentres.
During his time in Australia Peter has carried out audits on Datacentres and authored reports for clients such as Woodside, BP, Rio Tinto, WA Police, AngloGold Ashanti and UGL and undertook a feasibility study for a proposed ATCO Gas Datacentre.
As corporate members of BICSI, the International ICT Design Representation Body, ESC Engineering actively and continually stay on the forefront of advances in this ever-evolving industry.
BICSI is a professional association supporting the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. It encompasses the design, integration and installation of pathways, spaces, fibre- and copper-based distribution systems, wireless-based systems and infrastructure that supports the transportation of information and associated signaling between and among communications and information gathering devices.
